POVI: The Connected Storytelling Buddy
Disclaimer: This post is part of a sponsored campaign for Povi. I received compensation for my participation, but my opinions are my own.
Spending quality time with your children can be challenging especially with the barrage of devices and the amount of connectivity every family is immersed in. I am excited to meet POVI, a connected toy with a mission geared for children ages 3-8. It is intended to assist parents raise happy, thoughtful and confident children. Povi is an EQ (emotional quotient) content platform + app with content gathered from professionals and a soft huggable storytelling buddy as the delivery tool. Povi shares short stories based on situations that children may encounter daily, then engages young listeners and their parents in a conversation on emotions and feelings. Povi’s stories tackle subjects such as compassion, flexibility, self-assurance, motivation, appreciation and other valuable life skills that help shape children into balanced adults.
Povi is not meant to be played with alone, but encourages that a parent be available to facilitate discussions presented by the challenges and brainstorm possible resolutions with their child. This offered both parent and child a platform to discuss their emotions freely and have an engaging discussion.
POVI comes with 10 pre-downloaded stories and a free app (available for Android or iOS) featuring supplementary questions parents can ask that are related to the stories and 20 additional stories that are age appropriate for each individual child. Parents are able to choose from three levels, for ages 3-4, 5-6 and 7-8. The stories are written and curated by experts including psychologists, teachers and parents.
