Celebrate Ferragosto with Barone Fini & I Trulli
Disclaimer: I was not compensated for this post.
I recently learned about the Italian holiday Ferragosto while attending a luncheon hosted by Barone Fini wines at I Trulli Enoteca e Restorante (122 East 27th Street) in NYC. Ferragosto is an annual Italian holiday celebrated on August 15. I Trulli and Barone Fini have created a celebratory menu in honor of this tradition and for every glass of Barone Fini wine that’s poured, 100% of the proceeds will be donated to The Food Bank For New York City.
Ferragosto originated as a celebration of the Italian harvest. Enjoyed by peasants and aristocrats alike, the festival gave everyone the opportunity to gather together, break bread, and enjoy the fruits of the labor season. Today, Ferragosto is celebrated on August 15th marked with parties, abundant feasts, and fireworks.
I enjoyed glasses of Barone Fini Pinot Grigio as well as some of their exquisite Merlot, this family owned business only produces these two varieties of wine in the most natural manner possible. The wine paired extremely well with each dish we were served which were a preview of time of the tasty dishes that are traditional for the Ferragosto celebration. A few of my favorites are Panzerotti, a deep fried dough that was filled with fresh mozzarella & tomatoes and the the pasta that remains hand-rolled daily by matriarch Dora Marzovilla.
I will be celebrating Ferragosto on August 15 at I Trull restaurant with a specially-curated four-course menu ($58) and enjoying plus $10 glasses of Barone Fini wine: 100% of proceeds of Barone Fini wine sales will be donated to the Food Bank For New York City in honor of the Italian holiday!
