His Birthday Brunch at American Girl Place

In a sea of pink flowers, frilly dresses, tiaras and American Girl dolls, we sang Happy Birthday to my 7 year old son, Tristan Reese in the crowded American Girl Place cafe. Tristan loves American Girl dolls and has been lovingly taking care of his Itty Bitty twins for almost a year now and for his birthday he asked to visit American Girl Place (609 5th avenue in NYC) since he had never been there before. I decided it would be a great time to visit, so I looked on the website and found information about the cAmerican Girl Cafe, I learned that the cafe offers weekend prix fixe breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea & dinner with several options for birthday celebrations that can include a cake and gift bag for the children. The American Girl customer service representatives were super friendly and extremely helpful; I was able to book a totally last minute birthday lunch for a party of 8 which included 4 children. I reminded them that the birthday person was a BOY and asked that a note be added to our reservation. I told him about his birthday lunch plans and he was so excited, he began getting his twins ready to celebrate his birthday with him.
We arrived at American Girl Place and were directed to the cafe where we checked in and were seated at our table. The table was beautifully decorated and there were even high chairs for the American Girl Dolls to join us at the table. Tristan seated his twins: one on each side of him and put on his birthday hat we brought with us, giving the pink birthday tiara that was provided to his little cousin. Tiaras were also provided for the dolls to help celebrate the special occasion.
Tiaras were also provided for the dolls to help celebrate the special occasion. And if you didn’t bring your doll with you, you could borrow one to dine with you.
The prix fixe menu included a choice of complimentary beverage, Warm Welcome (petite cinnamon buns), a first course and a choice of entree (salads, sandwiches, pizza, pasta, burgers) an dessert!
The War Welcome and First Course (tomato-basil bruschetta, hummus, crisp vegetables with ranch dipping sauce, and house-made pigs-in-a-blanket) were served family style.
Even the American Girls dolls at the table were brought doll sized plates and cups to enjoy the meal too!
Our ice cream dessert was brought out along with a cake to finish off our Birthday celebration! The server led the table in an enthusiastic “Happy Birthday” song and Tristan Reese blew out his candles with a great big smile on his face!
He thoroughly enjoyed his American Girl birthday Lunch celebration and did not seem to notice that he and his brothers were surrounded by mostly little girls who filled the cafe. I really love that my son embraces his nurturing side and is proud to care for his American Girl dolls at home and in public!

This is adorable! My cousin was just telling me that I should do this for my daughter’s 6th birthday. I am definitely over doing parties so this looks like an option.
Happy Birthday!
