My boys really love reading and are truly fascinated with non-fiction subjects. They enjoy learning about history and real people who look like them who are famous for making the world a better place. National Geographic Kids books are some of their favorites.
National Geographic Kids Books is the leading non ction publisher
for kids and the only publisher with the world’s premier scientific, education, and research organization at its core.
Some of the boys favorite heroes and heroines from the National Geographic Kids Book of Heroes & the Book of Heroines are:
Heroes
- John Henry- The Man Who Beat the Machine: a former slave who beat a steam powered hammer in a race to build a tunnel.
- Neil deGrasse Tyson-an astrophysicist who grew up in the Bronx, NY and is the director of the AMNH in NYC
- Jamie Robinson-the first African American major league baseball player who played for the Brooklyn Dodgers.
Heroines
- Surya Bonaly- the first champion figure skater: man or woman in history to complete a back flip and land it on one foot.
