Our Very First Ski Weekend at Camelback

We thoroughly enjoyed our very first Ski/Snowboard adventure at Camelback Lodge. No one in my family has ever set foot in a pair of skis or ventured on a snowboard. So, when we received an invitation for a family day trip with Momtrends, I jumped at the opportunity.
In preparation for the trip, I bought snow pants, snow boots and gloves and made sure that I packed thermals for everyone. We loaded up the car and in less than two hours we arrived in the Poconos for our winter adventure at Camelback Lodge!
Since, we had pre-registered online, it was a quick and easy process to get all our gear because our information was already in the Camelback system. Tristan Reese, my seven year old and I were fit for our skis and I decided to gather poles for additional support.
I headed off to my adult beginner lesson (90 minutes) where I joined a group of other beginners and we learned some of the basics from the very very very patient instructors on small scale terrains before working our way to the bunny slope.
After about an hour learning and practicing basic skiing techniques ( stopping, turning & slowing down) and most importantly, how to get up from a fall, we took the standing lift to the top of the bunny slope to test out our new found skills! I was completely terrified of actually skiing down the bunny slope but with the encouragement of my instructor, fellow classmates and some pretty proficient kids, I gathered up the courage and headed down the slope. I made it all the way down after a few falls and spending some time sitting in the snow. I had a great time for my first ski experience and I will most definitely be hitting the slopes again!
7 year old, Tristan Reese, made it through his kids group ski lesson (90 minutes) which are segmented by age and ability, starting with kids 4-7, 7-9, 10-12, 13-17 and 17 years and older. At the end of his lesson, his instructor gave us a booklet of the skills he worked on and let us know that he did a great job for his very first time in a pair of skis!
My adventurous five year old, Avery Royce, decided he wanted to try snowboarding, so he took a kids group snowboarding lesson (90 minutes) where he worked very closely with his instructor and a small group of kids at his level to learn to balance and maneuver on the snowboard.
At the end of his lesson, the instructor reviewed the skills he worked on and said he was awesome on the snow, especially for a first timer. My little novice snowboarder absolutely loved his time on the snow and has been asking to return!
After spending hours in the snow, it was time to head to spend the rest of the day at Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark, the largest in the Northeast which was a free shuttle ride or a 5 minute drive away!
We quickly changed out of our snow gear and replaced them with bathing suits. The boys, including hubby, loved hanging out in the Wave Pool, lazy River, hot tub and rode the slides over and over and over again! We spent almost 5 hours here swimming, floating, snacking and even relaxing in a cabana!
We had a full day of family fun and new adventures at Camleback Lodge and will definitely be returning in the very near future! What is your favorite feature of Camelback Lodge?
