The Grommet launched Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls on February 7th, which was designed to inspire young girls. I LOVE reading it with my boys and we have all learned a great deal about the amazing women featured in the book!
“Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls” is a children’s book packed with bedtime stories about the life of 100 extraordinary women from the past and the present—from Queen Elizabeth I to Serena Williams, Frida Kahlo to Julia Child, Ruth Bader Ginsberg to Amelia Earhart—and illustrated by 60 female artists from all over the world.
The book features 100 women who are positive role models and have made an impact on our society in some way! Along with biographies filled with fun and interesting facts about them, there are also beautifully illustrated pictures to accompany each bio. From A-Z, get ready to learn about Ada Lovelace, a mathematician to Zaha Hadid, an architect.
We learned about how Alek Wek, the supermodel, and her family escaped during a a time of war i her country, Sudan and was eventually discovered while sitting on a park ben ch in London.
We learned how Misty Copeland, ballerina, danced through excruciating pain during her first dance as a prima ballerina when she needed surgery and therapy but overcame it all to dance again!
Co-authors Elena Favilli and Francesca Cavallo, both from Italy, raised over $1 million from 20,000 backers through their crowdfunding campaigns.
