Planning a game day party can be lots of work BUT I found some great party food prep hacks while shopping on Peapodthat will save you tons of time & energy with more time to enjoy the game! And the best part is that all your groceries will be delivered right to your doorstep at a day/time that is convenient for you!
I created some delicious Game Day party foods using a combination of pre-prepared ingredients that made cooking quicker & easier. The spread consisted of Ham & Mac-n-Cheese cups, Mini pizzas, Vegetable Tray, Buffalo Wings, BBQ wings, naked wings & a sweet treat of decadent mug brownies and ice cream cups!
- BUY a vegetable tray! Save yourself some time and energy by picking out a preprepared vegetable tray complete with dipping sauce. Peapod has a variety of tray sizes to choose from.
- Ham & Cheese Mac-n-Cheese cups: Everyone loves mac-n-cheese, so why not make mini ones that are sure to be a hit with your party guests. Peapod offers an array of shredded cheese (buying the cheese already shredded is another time saver), including a Mac & Cheese Blend of New York sharp cheddar, American & Swiss cheese that is the perfect combination for a creamy mac-n-cheese.
These Ham & Mac-n-Cheese cups are pretty simple to make. You will need: *1 box of elbow macaroni *2 bags of Mac & Cheese Blend shredded cheese *1/2 cup milk *1 stick of butter *1 egg *1/4 lb deli sliced ham
Follow package directions and prepare the pasta the drain. In a pot, add the milk and melt a stick of butter. Next add 1 1/2 bags of cheese and stir until the cheese is all melted. Then add the warm pasta to the pot and mix until all the pasta is coated with the cheese mixture. Season with salt & pepper, then add an egg to the mixture, stirring until everything is mixed well.
Cut up deli sliced ham into little cubes then place them in a saucepan that has been sprayed with cooking spray. Fry them to your desired crispiness, then add 3/4 of the ham to the mac-n-cheese mixture. Spray the cooking spray into each cavity of 3 muffin tins (this recipe makes about 18 cups), then scoop mixture into each section. Use the remaining fried ham & shredded cheese to top each cup. Bake on 350F for about 35 minutes. Let them cool, then use a spoon to ease them out of the muffin tins on to your serving platter.
3. Mini Pizzas– For these bite-sized treats, I used frozen pre-made pizza dough, shredded Whole Milk Mozzarella cheese, pizza sauce & pepperoni that i found at Peapod Delivers.
First, portion out the pizza dough and shape into little circles using a cookie cutter or freehanded. Place some pizza sauce on each disc of dough, top with mozzarella cheese and a slice of pepperoni.
Then bake at 350F for about 20 minutes on a lined baking sheet. remove from oven, let cool and serve.
4. Chicken Wings 3 Ways: I really do enjoy snacking on delicious wings and have found an easy way to make them at home. At Peapod, you can purchase a bag of pre-cut chicken wing sections that make great wings. To make these wings, you will need a bag of chicken wing sections, oil, hot wings sauce and BBQ sauce
First, spread the wings out on a baking sheet seasoning with salt & pepper. Bake for 25 minutes then flip them and bake for another 25 minutes. Take them out of the oven. Heat up oil in a deep pot and fry wings 4-6 at a time, remove them from the oil and place on a plate covered with paper towels (to absorb excess oil). After frying all the wings, divide them into three: 1/3 of these will be your naked wings.
For the buffalo wings, coat & toss fried wings in some of the hot wing sauce, plate and serve.
For the BBQ wings, coat & toss wings in BBQ sauce like this Peapod Banjo Bourbon BBQ sauce, plate and serve.
5. Mug Brownies & Ice Cream Cups: Even game day desserts are super easy when shopping at Peapod Delivers. I found these Duncan Hines, Perfect Size for 1 cake and brownie mixes which are perfect for a single assert serving paired with Breyers Ice Cream Snack Cups.
All you need to prepare these Mug brownies are the mix packets and a few tablespoons of water (each box, contains 4 mixes). Gather a selection of microwave safe mugs from our cabinet and start mixing the mix and water in each mug. Follow the directions on the box to see how long your cake will need in the microwave. Ours went in for sixty seconds each and came out moist & delicious.
Adding the ice cream snack cups, makes this dessert even more delicious!
