In celebration of the NEW STXfilm’s UGLY DOLLS movie, we created our very own Ugly Dolls to celebrate being different and unique! The movie encourages being an individual no matter how weird or strange you may be from others. It is a great way to get everyone thinking about being all-inclusive and accepting of everyone regardless of how they look, spend or live, which is true a much needed life lesson for audiences of all ages.
Materials:
- felt fabric sheets
- metallic thread
- sewing needle
- Sharpie marker
- paper clips
- scissors
- hot glue gun
- craft buttons
- fiber fill
Attach the two pieces of felt together using paper clips then sketch an outline of your Ugly Doll using a the Sharpie marker on one of the pieces of felt.
Next, use the scissors to cut out your Ugly Doll shape, make sure to cut both pieces of felt at the same time.
Thread your needle with the metallic thread and begin sewing using a hemming stitch so the thread is visible around the doll edges.
Carefully add fiber fill to your doll while sewing. It is easiest to add the filling to each appendage before moving on to the next.
Once your Ugly Doll is stuffed and you have finished sewing, use a hot glue gun to attach some fun craft eyes and a felt mouth!
Now you have your very own, one-of-a-kind Ugly Doll to enjoy the new movie with!
