Remembering one of our first family trips for a family of five back in 2015 when my boys were almost 1, 3 and 5 years old. We decided to have a destination first birthday for our littlest at Sesame Place with about a dozen friends and family.
Now that we are officially a family of five with three little ones under the age of 5..traveling has gotten a bit harder. We love taking little road trips as mini vacations and usually rent full size cars but now that we need a vehicle that fits three car seats, we will have to get an SUV. We decided to test out the Mitsubishi Outlander for our day trip to Sesame Place to celebrate our littlest one’s first birthday!
The Mitsubishi Outlander seats 7 people and had enough room and more to comfortably fit our three car seats: one rear facing and two front facing. We decided up put the two youngest boys in the row directly behind the driver so that they were just within arms reach if the co-pilot needed to soothe the baby, replace a pacifier or reach a dropped crayon. Our oldest, sat in the last row, where he had space to lounge and spread out all his traveling art projects. The Outlander even had enough trunk space for the party bags for our party guests, our full size stroller and all the gear we needed for a day at Sesame Place including a book bag filled with: change of clothes, swimsuits and towels for everyone as well as a cooler filled with snacks. We had a great time with our party guests who met us at the park as well as the Sesame Street characters we met in person: “Q” even picked out a stuffed Count Von Count o take home!
We started our First Birthday Sesame Street Celebration checking out the parade, getting on some ides and of course taking lots of pictures with the Sesame Street gang!
The Sesame Place character lunch was the perfect way to celebrate with our favorite characters, friends and family. I booked a couple tables for our group in advance and even ordered a special cupcake for the birthday boy so the characters would include him in the Happy Birthday song! Our guests enjoyed a filling lunch buffet, character picture opportunities and lots of singing & dancing! My little birthday boy was NOT a happy camper when he saw the life-sized Sesame Street characters BUT these pictures are priceless!
Some of our favorite features of the 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander are:
- Cabin Quietness thanks to the sound isolating windshield glass
- Front Dual Zone Autmatic Climate Control
- Power Folding Mirrors that fold automatically when the vehicle is locked
- Touch Panel audio display which made it super easy to keep the music going
- Rear view Camera system
We really loved those features in the 2015 Outlander BUT the 2019 Outlander is jam packed with amazing features to assist with a better and safer vehicle experience:3 front power outlets
- 6 speakers
- USB connection
- electronic parking aid with camera
- steering wheel mounted controls for audio
- automatic headlights with automatic turn off
- Blind spot warning
- 7″ smartphone Link Display Audio
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert
- Forward Collision Mitigation
The Mitsubishi Outlander is a great choice for our family of 5 to travel comfortably. It is a good car for a larger family and offers great features that come standard AND Sesame Place is the perfect place to celebrate birthdays with friends & family too!

Hi thanks for the great review!
I checked out lots of youtube review videos on 2016 Mitsubishi outlander and tested drive one ES base model last weekend. To my great surprise the noise I heard was basically the same as my 2003 Mitsubishi lancer ES, which has become more and more unbearable to me.
I was very sure that I closed all the windows when I was testing drive.
My question to you is, can you give me some idea what you think on the cabin noise in relation to some other SUV’s or sedans such as Subaru Outback, etc.
Thanks!

Hi! The cabin noise level was mild but with three little ones I barely noticed it.
