We were entertained by the movie and were inspired to create some homemade rock candy inspired by the compact weapon capable of destroying planets. Check out our recipe for DIY coconut rock candy (ADULT SUPERVISION NEEDED)
Ingredients:
- 4 cups granulated sugar
- 2 cups distilled water
- red food coloring
- blue food coloring
- coconut extract
Bring 2 cups water to a boil over high heat and add the sugar in 1/2 cup increments making sure the sugar is completely dissolved by continuously stirring before adding the next 1/2 cup of sugar.
After all the sugar has dissolved, let sit for 15 minutes. Add in drops of the red and blue food coloring until you get the desired shade of purple. Then add a couple drops of the coconut extract and stir. Pour the mixture into a mason jar and cover with a paper towel.

- wax paper
Place the mixture in a cool dry place for couple days without disturbing it. After a couple days, you will see sugar crystals forming in the jar. When your crystals have reached about 3/4 the height of the jar, for the mixture into another mason jar, cover and replace in the cool dry place. Use a spoon to detach pieces of the sugar crystal of desired size, let dry on wax paper and enjoy! (repeat this step-in a couple days with the remaining mixture until it all becomes sugar crystals).
