Being a middle child and now having three children of my own, has really made me look for ways to create special memories with each child. My boys adore spending time with my mother, so I decided it would be great to take my middle child on a trip with my mother and I. We were hosted by Visit Pittsburgh and this was the very first trip to the “Steel City” for all of us!
Pittsburgh is jam packed with fun and educational attractions that everyone will enjoy. Our 3-generation trip was filled with food, fun and firsts!
We stayed at the Homewood Suites by Hilton in downtown Pittsburgh. The room was spacious with a king-sized bed, living room area and a full kitchen.
The hotel offers daily free hot breakfasting evening socials with a complimentary drink!
The outdoor space was perfect for lounging, enjoying the weather and spending some quality time. My mother and son really enjoyed relaxing on the terrace and chatting. He is so curious and loves asking series of questions to anyone who will give him a minute.
The Gateway Clipper Sightseeing Cruise is a great way to see and learn about the history of Pittsburgh while enjoying the skyline. We learned so many fun facts about the city that my son is still recalling them and teaching his brothers.
After, sightseeing by water, we visited the Duquesne Incline and rode one of the historic cable cars to the top to take in the city views from the observation deck.
We took in a Pittsburgh Pirates game at the PNC park in the Pirate’s Cove section where we enjoyed unlimited popcorn, peanuts and drinks!
Pittsburgh has so many delicious eateries that it may be hard to select a couple when visiting. We really enjoyed the food and ambiance at Pamela’s Diner where we had to try out their famous crepe-style hotcakes and we whole heartedly agree that they serve the BEST breakfast in Pittsburgh.
If you are the parent of more than one child, seriously consider taking each child on a solo trip with grandma or grandpa for some extra special bonding time and really personal memories…Pittsburgh should deftly be one of the cities to consider!
