Finally…the much anticipated Disney’s Lion King has arrived on the big screen! We were invited to a screening at a local AMC theater by Dolby Cinema to experience the movie with stunning colors and moving audio. The dramatic images and moving audio really brought the movie to life around us creating a multi sensory experience.
This new live action Lion King will definitely be a new Disney classic in my house! We absolutely loved the way the original story was retold with the addition of some new humor and even hint of a dark backstory that starts to explain what may have pushed Scar to become the villain. For us, Timon and Pumbaa stole the show and had us laughing uncontrollably. So, in their honor we created a yummy themed snack, “Grubs on a Log”.
Ingredients:
- celery sticks
- JIF peanut butter or any nut butter
- OREO mini cookies
- Haribo Starmix
- Trolli Sour Brite All Star Mix
Put some OREO cookies into a sealed plastic zipper bag and crush them with the back of a spoon or with your hands until they are broken down into crumbs.
Rinse, dry and cut the celery sticks to 2/3 inch pieces. Spread some of the nut butter into the groove of the celery stick, then sprinkle some crushed OREOs on top of the nut butter.
Place your Haribo & Trolli candy on a cutting board and begin creating “grub” like shapes by cutting some of the pieces off some of the shapes. We cut the arms off the sloth shape to make a “snail” shape and used the octopus as spiders and the crawlers as themselves.
Finally, we places our “grubs” on their logs and shared with friends!
