We had an amazing time during our very first family camp experience at Camp MAX! Hubby and I never experienced sleep away camp as children but had always heard some really great stories from former camp-goers. This al-inclusive family camp was the perfect way to introduce us all to the world of camp life! There were so many activities to choose from including traditional camp choices for both the kids and adults.
My boys were fascinated by the cabin that we had all to ourselves, even though they each picked their own beds…by the time it was bedtime, my city boys all ended up sleeping together in one bed!
The camp activities included art, swimming, sports, horseback riding, zip- lining, rock-climbing, go-carting, tennis, bicycling, archery and more!
From the moment we arrived from the city, the fresh air was exactly what we needed to relax, unwind and enjoy the outdoors. We were able to unplug and create some great memories together.
The pool was a hit with the boys, since they are water babies. They enjoyed their structured swimming classes as well as free-time in the pool with us and the other families.
Hubby and I decided to hop on some bikes and take a little ride around the camp grounds together…I had not been on a bike in over 20 years and really enjoyed jumping back on one. A kickball game for the parents was arranged while the kids were engaged in their own activities which provided some fun times and lots of laughs with the other adults. Plus, camp counselors were available to watch the children for parents to attend adults-only activities in the evenings.
I was pretty excited to try go-kart racing and insisted to be the driver. We completed the course, I did well and did not crash into anything OR anybody!
We also took this opportunity to go horseback riding together (another first for me). My boys were so ready to meet the horses and start riding, they even assured me that the horses would be gentle.
Our horseback rides were led by a couple experienced counselors who walked us through the steps on mounting, riding, directing the horses and dismounting. The horses were calm and the ride was pretty peaceful.
Family Camp at Camp Max was truly a memorable family experience for each one of us and we can not wait to return with more friends & family! The amazing memories we made at camp together are forever etched in our thoughts and we are planning to make this an annual family experience!
