The Playing With Fire movie in theaters November 8th starring John Cena, was definitely a fun comedy that addressed some very serious issues including themes of responsibility, trust and fire safety.
After being entertained by the movie, I started talking to my kids about fire safety and what they would do in case of a fire emergency. I realized that we were not as prepared as I thought we were. We sat down as a family
We decided to create our very own personalized Fire Emergency kits in metal lunch boxes in case an emergency ever arises. Here is a list of the contents:
- A recent family photo
- A printed map of the neighborhood with the family meeting spot and safe places highlighted (local library, local police station, local fire station, nearest public transportation stop)
- a pair of scissors

- notebook with contact names, addresses and phone numbers of parents, grandparents, friends, family and neighbors

- a First Aid kit

- hand sanitizer
- a phone (this is an old phone that is not on any cellular data service but we use it on wifi & it can still be used to dial 911)
- charging cords and wall adapter
- a portable charger
- cash (bills & quarters)
- a metrocard
- an AMEX giftcard
- a luggage tag filled out with child’s name, address and phone number
