Spelling and vocabulary building can be fun especially when learning silly words that seem to defy every convention of the English language! My boys absolutely LOVE the book : P Is for Pterodactyl: The Worst Alphabet Book Ever by Raj Haldar, Chris Carpenter & Maria Beddia. The book has become their go-to when trying to outwit each other, family members and sometimes even their own parents.
I decided to create a “Word of the Day” worksheet that can be used with some of the words in the book where we analyze the formal definition, look for synonyms, antonyms, make illustrations, create silly sentences and more!
The boys and I will be building our vocabulary and learning how to spell some pretty tricks words using our book and the “Word of the Day” worksheets! Happy Spelling!
