Gaming is fun and learning to create games through coding is even more fun! CodeAdvantage offers online classes for students i K thru 10th grade. I am a third grader and I attended a 2-week online Minecraft Camp with CodeAdvantage: here is what I learned!
1.During the first class we went over the controls for the game, Minecraft. To move forward you have to press the “W” key, to move backward, use the “S” key, to move right use the “D key,” and to move left is the “A key.” We also started creating our very own Minecraft worlds.
2.Farming is a big part of the game. We learned how create and customize our own farms. First, you make a hoe using two sticks and two ores placing them together to make the shape of a hoe within the 3×3 crafting grid. After you create your hoe you are ready to make a block of farmland which will turn into your farm after it is placed by water ad seeds are added.
3. Portals are important in Minecraft because they take you to other worlds. In class, we learned how to make a nether portal which transports you to the Nether world where you can gather blaze rods to finish the game and collect buckets of lava that you can trade with the villagers.
4. Commands are useful when playing Minecraft. Some cool commands we learned allow you to change the weather, change the time of day and teleport.
5. Minecraft is a game and the ultimate goal is to defeat the Ender dragon and finish the game. In class, we learned how to craft an end portal that allowed us to complete the game.
I really enjoyed participating in the CodeAdvantage Minecraft Club Level 1 online camp and now I am ready to attempt to create more advanced worlds and play with other gamers! Use code THIRTYM20 to receive $20 off a class or sign up for a FREE trial!
