Parenting is ever-changing just as the needs and wants of your children change with their age. The Center for Parent and Teen Communication (CPTC) provides a science-based approach to support healthy family relationships. These strategies are helpful to encourage communication, individuality, and nurturing quality connections. The CPTC’s 100-word daily parenting newsletter is a great way to receive these helpful strategies in a simple, direct, digestible way.
My favorite 1-minute CPTC parenting strategy is Spot Teen Strengths because it reminded me to point out the positive character traits in my own children as often as I can to help them to continue to develop into kind, empathetic, helpful human beings. This was a great reminder for me to continue to build my own children up at home and celebrate their strengths instead of focusing on negative behaviors. I use this strategy to make my children feel good about themselves, and it has even changed their bad moods.
Take a couple of minutes to check out the CPTC animations. Which is your favorite?
